Advanced Development Squad Swimming Lessons are designed for children of all ages usually from 8 years and up. At this level, the focus is on building good technique learnt in previous squad levels with an emphasis on swim times, distance, endurance and fitness. This level also provides students with the tools to be successful in competitive swimming environments. Working on starts and finishes for all 4 strokes, as well as turns in each stroke and transition. Advanced Development Squad is conducted in the 50m pool and permits a maximum of 8 students per teacher.

Students are required to bring their own training fins (please enquire for the appropriate type) and water bottle to each session.

Swim lessons run for the duration of 60 minutes at the scheduled time each week for the duration of the relevant term: Choose from 1, 2 or even 3 lessons per week.

Students will learn to:

  • Swim freestyle with good technique (minimum of 400m unassisted)
  • Backstroke with good technique (minimum of 400m unassisted)
  • Backstroke race starts off the wall and appropriate finishes into the wall
  • Race dives off the block in freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke
  • Perform turns and race finishes in all 4 strokes
  • Swim butterfly with good technique minimum 200m unassisted
  • Swim breaststroke with good technique minimum 200m unassisted
  • Endurance kick of all 4 strokes
  • Swim individual medleys in correct order
  • Perform turns for each stroke in medley order
